Formed amid the influx of global chaos in early 2020, Laguna Beach-based alt rockers Gingsu have spent the pandemic creating a set of tunes as captivating as they are deceptive. Between guitarist James Packes, drummer Caleb Paust, bassist Michael Aripez, and vocalist Quin Seely, they’ve crafted infectious sing-a-longs atop unconventional grooves, weaving together musical narratives that grow more vibrant and expansive with each listen. There’s enough topline sweetness for even the most casual music fans, and more than enough melodic and rhythmic ear candy for the acutely trained “insert your sub-genre here” elitist.

Singles like “Road Song” hauntingly demonstrate their taste for the melancholy, while heavier numbers like “Brittle Bones”, "Martyr", and "Pariah" pull the listener through the mud, relishing in the grime synonymous with those who ruled rock at the turn of the millennium. On the opposite end of the spectrum, intricate rhythms dance with irresistible hooks on songs like "Pepper Tree Lady". When it comes to Gingsu’s music, there’s truly a song for everybody.
