Few bands have etched their mark across the British musical landscape with as much impact and authority as Oasis did. Emerging from Manchester at the start of the 1990s, Oasis soon crystallized into one of the defining Britpop acts-a pride of anthemic songs and a persona to match that wooed the international audience en masse. Brilliantly influential in rock, their discography is full of iconic tracks that remain fresh in the ears of both newer and older fans. The impact of "(What's the Story) Morning Glory?" was nothing short of massive; the album has since sold more than 22 million copies worldwide. The record also represents a peak in the band's spirit of cooperation; Noel had seemingly begun to convince everyone, including himself, that he was one of his generation's great songwriters. The album also signaled the beginning of a ruined decade for the band as internal feuds and life in the stratosphere of superstardom began to wear it down.

The Decline and Breakup: A Troubled Decade


Things turned stormy in the years following the creation of "Be Here Now". The magic that had hovered around the band's previous efforts was nowhere to be seen, and albums such as 2000's "Standing on the Shoulder of Giants" and 2002's "Heathen Chemistry" were met with a lukewarm critical and fan reception.
