About Juice Oh Yeah
Juice Oh Yeah is a Russian experimental group from Saint Petersburg, Russian Federation, whose style is influenced by such genres as stoner doom, blues and artists such as Earth, Morphine and King Crimson. The group's calling card is its original, innovative sound, which is created through the combination of overdriven, high-gain fretless bass and wild, chaotic drums spiced with cowbell. Presiding over this propulsive blend is a powerful male voice, which reverberates amid the groove. Although the music is mainly based on the blues scale, some parts are standing out for their orientalisms, melodies and rythms of which are inspired by Klezmer tradition.
The mood of the debut album, titled Sila Vselennoy (Power of the Universe), can be described as one of pathos. It is enticingly mystical, almost religious, and gives an impression of a dark ceremony; a ritual that ends with the revelation of light.
