About the festival headliner - Last Train

Few modern rock bands embody the relentless touring and raw energy as much as Last Train does. Formed in 2007 in France, this quartet has forged a name for itself through a combination of electrifying live performances and a sound that blends classic rock influences with contemporary grit. From small clubs to international stages, the rise of this band has been well documented, a part of their dedication and that ability to capture with strength the substance of rock music while maintaining a poetic sensitivity.

Early Days: Finding Their Sound

The members of Last Train, Jean-Noël Scherrer, Julien Peultier, Timothée Gérard, and Antoine Baschung, began playing together when they were teens. Hailing from Mulhouse, a city in eastern France, they first took inspiration from rock legends like Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, and The Strokes. But their sound quickly moved beyond imitation into something unique, with a distinct character marked by impassioned vocals courtesy of Scherrer and brooding instrumentals courtesy of the band.
Their breakthrough came through an intense commitment to live performances. Unlike many emerging bands who rely on viral online success, Last Train chose the old-school approach—constant touring. Early years were spent crisscrossing France and neighboring countries, performing in bars and small venues, steadily earning a reputation as a must-see act.

Breaking Through: The First Records

After years touring and perfecting their craft live, Last Train released their debut album, "Weathering", in 2017. With it came an atmospheric, occasionally high-energy union of some of the earliest experiences of the quartet. Songs like "Fire" and "Way Out" really showed that balancing act-raw power versus emotional depth. It received a broad critical acclaim in France and beyond, setting them as one of the most promising rock bands of their generation.
And with the melancholy guitar, driving percussion, and themes of longing, struggle, and time passing, it became "Weathering". The success they enjoyed after its release further enabled them to expand their touring radius to festivals across Europe, even to the far shores of Asia.

Refining Their Identity: "The Big Picture"

In 2019, Last Train released their second album, "The Big Picture", showcasing a more refined and mature version of their sound. This record was less about raw aggression and more about atmosphere and storytelling. Songs such as "Disappointed" and "The Idea of Someone" revealed a band not afraid to experiment with slower tempos and cinematic soundscapes.
Lyrically, "The Big Picture" was an introspective album that talked about relationships, self-doubt, and general young adult uncertainties. The growth was not only in the writing of the songs, but even the production seemed a little polished compared to the others, without sacrificing any intensity.

Relentless Touring and International Recognition

One of the defining characteristics of Last Train has been their devotion to the road. Live performances by them have become stuff of legend among fans for the emotional intensity and impeccable musicianship that go along with every show. Having shared the stage with major acts, playing renowned festivals such as Hellfest and Eurockéennes, the band has built a loyal following across Europe and Asia.
Whereas most bands eventually slow down once they've achieved success, Last Train has done the opposite: their touring schedule has increased. Many times, their concerts will run over two hours and leave their audience emotionally exhausted but wanting more. This relentless attitude has cemented them as one of the hardest-working bands in modern rock.

Creative Expansion: "How Did We Get There?"

Their third studio album, "How Did We Get There?", came out in 2022 and marked another evolution in their sound. While still rooted in rock, the album featured more cinematic elements and a wider sonic palette. Songs like "All Alone" and "Precious" were tinged with melancholy and introspection that resonated deeply with listeners.
The name of the album itself was, in fact, a question which the band members had been posing to themselves in the wake of years of exhaustive touring and growth. It spoke both to the journey they have been on and to existential explorations. "How Did We Get There?" received critical acclaim for its depth and musical sophistication.

The Philosophy Behind Their Music

Unlike a lot of rock bands these days, what makes Last Train different is their philosophy behind the music. They don't like to follow the flow or commercialism in the industry. Instead, they are authentic and allow their music to take its organic course. Their lyrics often deal with universal emotions-loss, hope, love, and longing-without clichés.
In a period when rock music struggles to keep its relevance, Last Train stands out as one of those bands that stay true to the core values of the genre. Their music speaks to those who appreciate raw emotion, craftsmanship, and the kind of energy that only comes from years of playing together.

Challenges and the Road Ahead

Like any band, Last Train has their fair share of ups and downs. The COVID-19 pandemic brought their unrelenting tour to a stop for the first time, as the whole world had to be put on hold. But instead of slowing them down, the time was spent honing their sound and preparing new material.
Now, with their journey still ongoing, they remain one of the most exciting rock bands to emerge from France in recent years. Their ability to constantly evolve while staying true to their roots ensures that they will remain relevant for years to come.
Last Train is more than a rock band; rather, it is a statement to the power of persistence, passion, and musical integrity. From playing small gigs in the early days to headlining some of the biggest festivals in France, they proved one thing-that true success comes with dedication and being true to oneself.
Their music isn't built to top the charts but to last. And Last Train continues to carve out its place within the rock landscape-whether through heartfelt lyrics, dynamic composition, or unforgettable live performances-to prove that their journey is anything but over.
