Founded in 1994 in Berlin, the German band Rammstein consists of members Till Lindemann (lead vocalist), Paul H. Landers (rhythm guitarist and backup vocalist), Richard Z. Kruspe (lead guitarist and backing) vocalist), Christian "Flake" Lorenz (keyboardist), Oliver "Ollie" Riedel (bass guitarist), and Christoph "Doom" Schneider (drummer and electronic percussionist). Recognized as a key figure in the Neue Deutsche Härte movement alongside groups like Oomph! and Die Krupps, Rammstein is celebrated for their distinctive Tanz-Metal (or "Dance Metal") style. While they occasionally incorporate Russian (song "Moskau"), English ("Amerika"), French ("Amour"), and Spanish ("Te Quiero Puta") in parts of their songs, the band primarily performs in German. Rammstein derived their moniker in a roundabout way from the town of Ramstein-Miesenbach in Western Germany, known for the aviation catastrophe that occurred on August 28, 1988. The band's name translates as "ramming stone" due to the additional "m" used to reflect the Teutonic character of their sound. Before the band gained widespread recognition, they used the stage name "Rammstein-Flugschau" (which translates as "Rammstein-Airshow").
